Leaving California

I am very excited and a little sad to be leaving my Grandparents house in California.  We are heading toward Kingman in the morning and the skywalk the following day.  We watched a documentary on the building of the skywalk last night.  I had no idea what had to go into it, and where it was built!

“The Hualapai (WALL-uh-pie), the “People of the Tall Pines,” have lived in the Southwest for untold generations.” (NPS.gov) They actually manage and run the skywalk as well as most of the West Canyon.  The skywalk ahs helped generate income, as well as a few local stores, gas stations, lodging, etc.  They also run guided hunts!  Could you imagine following an actual Native American through sacred land!  Amazing!

“Dog-Kid” can tell we are packing, and seems a little anxious. She loves it here!  She chases my grandpa around the house with her stuffed Mountain goat, watches grandma in the kitchens in the morning and loves the quick and hot walks around the neighboorhood several times a day.  I have been reminded that as a dog mother with a backyard I get a little lazy with the walks!  She enjoys them so much, and has gotten significantly better on a leash because of it!

I watched a little show with grandpa on a photographer in Utah exploring the canyons and arches.  I am very excited and have a feeling I will want to return sometime soon dog free to actually do some serious hiking in Utah and New Mexico.  I will slowly start planning that dream trip!
